And so it begins.......

As a personal challenge and part of lent, I have decided to give up crisps. To most people this wouldn’t appear that hard, however with me, crisps are like other people’s addiction and craving for chocolate. I can’t remember a time where I haven’t had crisps and they haven’t been in my life (dear me I am making them sound like a person). When I was in school I used to have up to 4 packets of crisps a day!!!! Since I’ve gotten older I have cut down on that amount. I am surprised I am not really that fat. When I was eating these 4 packets a day I was training about 3-4 times a week in Badminton, so I think I just burned it off.

The first day without crisps yesterday went fine. I didn’t crave them at all and I was ok at lunch time as well when I normally have my packet of the day. Today is proving a bit harder. I would like to have a packet but I will say NO. One of the guys in work was ever so cruel and took two packets of crisps and waved them either side of my head, saying I was seeing things and I know I wanted them. I WILL NOT GIVE IN!

Aaaaargh lunch time is almost here and I would love some crisps. This could just be because I am hungry more than anything else. Let’s hope that I will be fine once I have had my lunch.

Ok I have had my lunch, I still feel a bit hungry but more satisfied and I am not really craving crisps, so that’s something :0)

VW Bus Birthday Cake

It’s that time of year again the fantastic Mr Bus’ birthday.   Now last year I decided to design and make him a digger cake, this year of course I had to equal that effort or go one better.   I had a few ideas in the pipeline and decided to ask the Birthday boy what he would prefer.   We went with a VW Bus cake. Now I started with baking a lemon drizzle loaf cake, whilst this was cooling had the daunting thought this was not going to be high enough, so baked another lemon loaf cake, this time without the drizzle, so that I could square off the top to sit the other one on top of it.   After these had cooled down, it was time to build, placing the loaf cakes one on top of the other with a layer of vanilla butter cream in the middle, I covered the cakes all over in butter cream.   I then set about with the icing.   I thought it best to start with the white top and draped it over the cakes, just leaving enough for a slight overlap at the bottom. ...

What did the Roman's ever do for us?

It is the end of January already, and while I am freezing in my office my grandparents are on a cruise around the world. They are at this moment in Honolulu. I am hoping that I can look forward to an old age like them. This year is going too quickly for me already. Ah well, I have nothing to complain about I suppose. Apart from the dreaded Valentines Day is approaching and my first one where I am single in years. I am not sure whether to jump for joy or slit my wrists, joyful that I haven’t got to spend any money or sad because I am all alone in this cruel world. I think I shall concentrate on the first option. Well just doing some research and lo and behold Valentines Day originated from Rome. Typical another thing the ever so helpful Romans did for us. More Afternoon Tea?!?!?!

Well yes, I have been at it again. The 2nd December my fabulous friend Fordy and I went on a lovely day trip to Bath. We love our girlie day trips and thought we would combine this one with the Christmas market and afternoon tea (of course). As it was a day off from work we allowed ourselves a little lie in so didn’t set off too early, this did mean that we missed all the rush hour traffic and had a lovely drive down to Bath. The weather was nice and bright but it was cold, which got us in the mood for a Christmas market. We arrived at the park and ride and it was full, we drove round trying to find a space, just as we were about to give up and try and find somewhere else, a bus from town pulled up and we were able to follow people off the bus to a parking space. Then came the wait in the queue for a bus, it was so cold and we wished we had layered up a bit more. Luckily we weren’t waiting long and we were on a bus into Bath centre. On arriving we got our bearings and star...
