I honestly can't believe that today is the last day of April!!!  Where on earth did that go?  My brain really can't comprehend that it is May tomorrow!!  I am going to try and blame this on the really late Easter that we had this year.  I have a feeling May is going to go just as quick especially with the bank holidays. Anyway... At the beginning of the year I started doing a 365 day photo challenge and I am pleased to say I have kept with it so far.  Generally this has been easy to accomplish, I did find it difficult when I was ill with the flu, because seriously who wants to be doing anything other than curling up under the duvet feeling sorry for yourself. but I did battle through. Ok, I don’t tend to normally like to rant on here but there is one thing that really annoys me.  This is the latest trend by restaurants etc. to insist on serving your food on what is basically a chopping board!! I really don’t understand it at all, especially with foods that come with a sauce which in turn sees said sauce racing towards the edge of the board and then onto the table cloth and on occasion into your lap. I also think this way of eating is very unhygienic.  Foodstuffs and sauces can become engrained in the wood and difficult to remove, so do you truly ever have a clean board?  Also you wouldn’t catch me eating my main meal off a chopping board in the house.  There is a reason plates were invented and have been used for thousands of years and this is because it’s a result of progress. My word I can’t believe it is nearly the end of March and I haven’t done a blog post.  As it is March and St David’s day is Wales’ patron saint I thought I would do a little welsh blog. This year saw me making my very first batch of Welsh cakes.  If you have never had Welsh cakes then you’re missing out as they’re little pieces of heaven.  The good thing about welsh cakes is that each family has their own recipe which is passed down through the generations, but generally they are all the same. These are also sometimes called bakestones as they are cooked on a bakestone, which is a cast iron griddle about 1.5cm or more thick.  They are made using flour, sultanas (to preference), butter, sugar and sometimes with a little added spice or nutmeg.  These are served hot or cold with a dusting of sugar, they don’t need any other accompaniment as they are delicious on their own and perfect with a cup of tea.   Here are my lovely welsh ca...

My word I can’t believe that 28 years ago this month I met my best friend.  Who would have thought it?  We have been together through thick and thin, there have been highs and lows but like any relationship you have to work at it. We can remember that our first argument was about the size of a killer whale, I think I said it was as big as a house.  Goodness knows.  Anyway, we have had some other disagreements since then but when it comes down to it we are still there for each other.  I think we also know when we need some space and so if we don’t hear off one another for a couple of days it’s not a big thing. Ms James is my best friend for many reasons.  I know she is always there, she is very good at advice although can do with listening to her own wise words now and again, but can’t we all.  Also she doesn’t judge.  I know I can tell her anything on this planet and she won’t judge me and be nothing but a friend. Well this Christmas I felt ever so spoilt and had probably one of the best Christmases ever.  Mr Bus and I spent it in our beautiful home and had the parents over for dinner, which was lovely.  We even had the obligatory game after dinner, which was Lego Creationary courtesy of Mr Bus’ sister; it was brilliant and such fun.  It really go the creative juices flowing and we surprised ourselves, however some were difficult and we ended up just shouting anything out.  A good time was had by all. Santa aka Mr Bus bought me a Nexus 7, this is why I felt incredibly spoilt.  He also bought a fab minion hard cover to go with it.  However, I was then worried about the screen getting scratched when I was carrying it around in my bag and decided I needed a case for it.  Having browsed the ones available to buy I decided that I would make my own as I have plenty of felt etc.  Also I didn’t make it padded as it already has a cover on it a...

Something needs to be done to up the pace.   I am not far off my target weight with just 12lbs to go, this is the tough part.   I am trying very hard to juggle living life in two places what with work, friends and family, due to this I am falling down on the exercise front and this needs to be addressed. I have been considering going for a quick fix with a silly diet (something I have never done), but realise I need to have a lifestyle change.   With living in two places this should be easier, in the week I can be really good and maybe cut down on the amount of carbs I have, replacing pasta and rice with salads and more vegetables, then I won’t feel so bad on weekends when I can then indulge a bit.   I don’t have much of a sweet tooth so don’t eat chocolate, I do have a weakness for crisps, I have already addressed this and go for the healthier option ones and at the moment love the Velvet Crunch ones. This year the wonderful Mr Bus and I have bought our first home together so we were not in the position to justify a holiday abroad.   Luckily the British weather was kind to us and the summer weather was amazing and beautiful.   We booked a lovely holiday down in Cornwall staying in our favourite place The Deep Green Lodge . Having stayed here last year I couldn't wait to return. Mike is a brilliant host and hopefully we will return in the future at a time when I can meet Lou as well.   Everything is spotlessly clean and there is a laid back relaxing atmosphere and eco-friendly products. The breakfast is delicious and you can have as much or as little as you want, it sets you up for the day and there is lovely fresh coffee and a range of herbal teas.   The rooms are gorgeous and the new decor very complimentary and fresh.
