Chester Weekend

Ok the amazing Chester weekend.   Mr Bus and I were considering what to do for our first anniversary and were very tempted to go to Edinburgh ; however, it was a bit pricey at current so we thought we would wait for a better deal.   We eventually decided on Chester and I think because I had raved so much about Chester Zoo to himself it was a must. We booked this absolutely stunning B&B called the Manderley Bed and Breakfast .   I would have to say it was one of the best bed and breakfasts I have ever stayed in.   It is very reasonably priced and books up very quickly as it’s of such a high standard.   We booked the Super King room as a nice treat for ourselves. We had an amazing stay and Karen and Richard couldn't do enough. What makes this B & B so spectacular are the personal touches. It is also easy to find, in a beautiful area and a short walk into Chester . Karen greeted us when we arrived and showed us around, then to our room asking if we...

Jolyon's at No.10 Afternoon Tea

Well yesterday saw my first afternoon tea of 2012, which for me in comparison to last year is very late and only one by now is shocking. I took a lovely half day flexi to meet up with fabulous Ms James, after a mix up with meeting places and a break down in communication we were finally on our way. A little bit early to head straight to the venue we decided on a quick one in the brilliant pub the Mochyn Du which is near Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. The Mochyn Du is a lovely pub with a mix of old fashioned pub and modern furnishings and to be fair it works very well. It was nicely quiet as well with the odd group of people enjoying lunch. The bar staff were lovely and friendly. Unfortunately we weren’t able to stay longer and headed off for our champagne afternoon tea at Jolyon’s at No.10. Jolyon’s at No.10 is on Cathedral Road in Cardiff and not to far along either so easy to get to and easy to find. On arrival we took our seats and our table was laid by a very nice, f...

Girlie Day and Ghost Walk

Last Friday there was still hope of Wales being in the final for the World Cup in the Rugby and the weather was warm enough to walk around in t-shirts. This Friday we’re in the 3rd place play offs for the Rugby World Cup and I had to scrape ice off my car this morning!!! What a difference a week can make. Anyway, back to last Friday. I took a flexi day leave (one thing the government hasn’t taken from us poor Public Sector workers yet) and spent it with my superb friend Ms James . We had a late morning start catching the train to Cardiff Bay where we took a little stroll around enjoying the sun and popping into some boutiques. We then decided to go for a cocktail before heading for our champagne cream tea. Mimosa’s was our place of choice and we settled down for a lovely Manhattan whilst taking in the view of the lovely barman with gorgeous blue eyes, ensuring we will have to return there. All too quickly we had to finish our cocktails and head off to find the place we were h...
